Nigel learnt to play Bass so he had something to do whilst waiting for his sons who were playing in the Band. Nigel is a Data Processing Technician and in his spare time enjoys researching his family history.
BBb Bass – Colin Dance
Colin first played tenor horn in the band as far back as 1972 when the band was conducted by Les Jennings. He joined again when he moved back to Exmouth in 1996, and enjoyed 6 years as Musical Director of The City of Exeter Railway Band with whom the band still forges close links.
The proud recipient of a 1st Class Honours Degree in Band Studies at Sheffield University in 2006, and a retired Policeman, Colin now plays BBb Bass in the band, and runs his own music services company Dance is With Music. He writes and arranges extensively for brass and wind bands, and won the SWBBA Diamond Anniversary Composing Competition in 2006 with his work The St Michael Ley Line, which was used as the 4th Section Test Piece that year.
