EEb Bass - Matthew Hawkins

Matthew, is 18 years old and in the sixth form at Queen Elizabeth’s Community College, Crediton. He is studying music at A-Level and hopes to go on to University to continue his music studies at degree level and hopes to join the Royal Marines Band Service. Matthew is also a jazz enthusiast, playing Trombone in the school Jazz Band. Matthew also helps the Training Band by playing the Bass and composing and arranging music.

EEb Bass - Nigel Strawbridge

Nigel learnt to play Bass so he had something to do whilst waiting for his sons who were playing in the Band. Nigel is a Data Processing Technician and in his spare time enjoys researching his family history.

BBb Bass - Gill Hawkins - Deputy Secretary

Gill has been with Lympstone band for many years and has seen the band move from the 4th section right up to the 1st section. She has three boys, two of which have followed in her foot steps in learning a brass instrument. Gill's eldest son, Matthew joined the Senior Band in 2008 on Eb Bass.
